In a strategic move to deepen economic and technological cooperation, the United Arab Emirates has formally joined the U.S-led Pax Silica initiative, aimed at strengthening global AI and semiconductor supply chains. Undersecretary for Economic Affairs Jacob Helberg described the pact as a cornerstone in broadening U.S.–UAE ties, reflecting mutual interests in reducing dependence on rival technologies and enhancing supply chain resilience. The initiative includes major global partners such as Britain, Japan, Israel, and Singapore, and positions the UAE as a pivotal hub in the evolving landscape of critical technology infrastructure. For Gulf economies traditionally anchored in energy exports, participation in Pax Silica underscores an ongoing transition toward diversified, high-value economic activity — reinforcing the UAE’s ambition to become a global leader in advanced tech investment and supply chain security.
